AI is hot ? and Agtech is even hotter ?

July 1, 2020 by STEP Conference

The AI in agriculture market was valued at $600 million in 2018 and is expected to reach $2.6 billion by 2025. AI might help us live healthier lives when it comes to food and growing populations. We’re tackling agtech and foodtech at STEP Anywhere 2020 this August.

Agriculture is a low-margin, labor intensive industry. Technology can help farmers increase margins and decrease risk.

Neil Yorke-Smith, currently working on autonomous greenhouses, and Jonathan Reyes, Co-Founder of Aquaponics AI and Tulua, will be joining the STEP Anywhere line-up as part of the STEP X track.

Neil Yorke-Smith is an Associate Professor of Artificial Intelligence at Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands. His vision for AI is a tool to help people in socio-technical systems. His previous work includes the technology originally behind Siri (acquired by Apple). Currently his research focuses on agent-based optimization and behavioral factors in data-driven planning. He has consulted in Silicon Valley, Europe, and the Middle East.

Jonathan Reyes is a cross-cultural impact entrepreneur cultivating solutions that liberate communities and environments through technology. After years of experience in big data and scalable infrastructures, he turned his focus towards Aquaponics. He is the CEO and Co-founder of two social impact enterprises: Aquaponics AI, a US-based aquaponic tech company, and Tulua, a Jordan-based aquaponic system research and design company.
